What is your get away?

Hi everyone!

I think one of the most important things we can do when times get tough is to have a get away. Go somewhere or do something were you can forget about what's going on, even if it's just for a short time, to calm ourselves and stick our sensible head back on. I thought I'd share mine and maybe get some new idea's from others here.

My main get away was music. When I got the chance I'd take some time out stick my headphones in, put something on that I knew would chill me out (I LOVED trance music for this), closed my eyes and tried to just concentrate on the music. This really worked for me.

As I've got older I've taken up jogging and long walks, also starting boxing as a hobby. This had a lovely side effect of improving my fitness too and I find it really helps to blow away all the rubbush stuff that could be going on at that moment. Use it as motivation to push yourself that bit further, I tend to find I run so much better when I'm feeling angry.
