Europe’s largest urban art festival Upfest is once again descending onto the streets of South Bristol this summer. More details to follow but for now get the date in your diary – 25-27 July 2015.
The last festival in 2013 boasted an impressive international line up of over 300 artists over some 2 miles of the city and the crowds flocked to enjoy over 30,000 square feet of artwork being created live.
In addition to promoting the city’s vast and diverse artistic heritage, Upfest provides us with an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Nacoa, with our volunteers, plus their friends and families all getting involved in the carnival like atmosphere.
Nacoa volunteers help marshal the event, looking dashing in their high viz jackets and selling festival programmes (with all proceeds coming direct to Nacoa). We also host the ever popular children’s area and raise funds through face painting, flea market and vintage jewellery stalls, refreshments and homemade cakes and sweet goods all kindly donated by volunteers. The festival enables us to engage more with the public, talking about the often hidden topic of parental alcohol problems.
Upfest is a free festival, only made possible by the hard work of many Upfest and Nacoa volunteers freely giving thousands of volunteer hours and an enormous amount of energy. Watch the Nacoa Upfest video to find out more about the festival and volunteering at Nacoa. We hope to see you at the next Upfest – as Nacoa CEO Hilary said “It is something you must you do at least once in your life!” Email us if you would like to get involved.
