DAVID STAFFORD MEMORIAL LECTURE celebrating COA Week 11 to 17 February 2018
Tuesday 13 FEBRUARY, 2.30 TO 4.30 PM
Jubilee Room, Palace of Westminster, HOUSE OF COMMONS, LONDON SW1A 0AA
We are delighted to announce that our principal speaker for this year’s annual David Stafford Memorial Lecture is the Deputy Editor of the Sunday Express, Camilla Tominey. The lecture will be part of international Children of Alcoholics Week 11 to 17 February 2018.
Throughout 2017, Camilla spearheaded a media campaign in the Sunday Express to raise awareness for all children affected by a parent’s drinking, attracting national headlines across the national media and press. She has been instrumental in succesfully pressuring the government to agree to work with Nacoa and the APPG on Children of Alcoholics. Camilla has prominently spoken out about her own experiences of growing up with a parent with alcohol problems in the media, doubtlessly touching the lives of countless others who have experienced similar struggles and letting them know they are not alone.
After a busy year, the Right Hon. Liam Byrne MP will also be present to update guests on the progress and planning for the APPG on Children of Alcoholics. In 2017, Byrne used the David Stafford Memorial Lecture to launch the first ever Manifesto for Children of Alcoholics in the world. This launched unprecedented levels of media interest and request for support.
We are also delighted to announce that the occasion will provide an opportunity to hear from the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) on their findings from a recent study on parental alcohol misuse.
Places are limited and must be pre-booked, so please email as soon as possible if you wish to attend. To book, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
