Hip hop artist Gimson donates proceeds from new single Oh Daddy

Gimson_oh_daddyHip hop artist Gimson is donating the proceeds from his new and hard hitting single Oh Daddy to Nacoa. The song portrays a sensitive yet brutal depiction of a child living with an abusive alcoholic father. Gimson tackles the negative cycles of parental alcohol problems and domestic violence which Nacoa’s helpline service seeks to support young people through, providing them with an opportunity to envisage a more positive future.

Gimson announced his generous donation of the proceeds for the single on his website: “Did you know 1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents drinking? I knew it was a lot but did not realise it was as high as this. Therefore I’ve chosen to donate the profits to The National Association for Children of Alcoholics (Nacoa).”

Nacoa CEO Hilary Henriques says that Gimson’s new song “exposes the brutal nature of the reality of living with a violent alcoholic. The ‘Oh Daddy’ refrain juxtaposed with Gimson’s rapping brilliantly depicts the ebb and flow of the cycle of alcoholism.”
