Enabling or harm reduction?

Hi all, first post.
My dad is a chronic alcoholic and has stage 3 cirrhosis, won’t get help. I’m aware and accepting there’s nothing I can do for him unless he wants to stop. However he asks me and my stepmum to buy him booze. I was uneasy but stepmum says he’s going to drink anyway, and if we buy it at least he’s not on the road where he could do some damage (he has a long list of driving convictions). I feel like we’re enabling him but I totally see that he’s a risk to himself and others.

Have any of you been in this position? Thoughts?
