This is what we do, daily.
I wanted to share how the term ‘Merry Christmas’ can feel, as the kid of an alcoholic.
As a COA, I grew up in an environment where every day was uncertain.
We see your hidden glass on the floor.
‘You don’t want to do anything, ever, to make them feel a certain way. Because that could spark a negative feeling.’
It started when mum started to find beer bottles and wine hidden all around the house.
I didn’t tell anyone about the bottle, just kept it to myself as with everything else.
Don’t let something like this hold you back, it is their problem not yours.
The thing that keeps me strong is help lines and I realise I am not alone.
To anyone that has gone through a similar thing I would like to say: things get better, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
