Tod Harrison – Trustee
Tod lives in Surrey with his wife, 3 children and is currently 52 – it has taken this long to talk about this subject and now time to try and make a difference, proving that there is no age limit on being a child of an alcoholic.
Tod works in the world of Private Equity supporting businesses to grow and be successful enabling the owners to work towards the sale of their business. As well as managing a band!!
He has completed an English Channel swim and taken part in multiple Iron Man UK contests and several ultra-marathons. In 2024 he climbed Mont Blanc, raising more than £45,000 for Nacoa.
A positive thing to come out of these experiences is that Tod has learned to not be defined by what happened in his childhood. He was passionate that he would not follow in father’s path and has used his experiences to drive him to achieve many aims in life. He feels truly blessed to have a great wife and loving family alongside him.
But Tod would be lying if he said that being the child of an alcoholic does not continue to affect him, and on occasion still fears ending up as his father did.
He now knows it is time to say, “enough is enough”and pass on the message to others that it okay to feel as he does. There is help available to those affected by a parent’s drinking and people who can support and guide you through the feelings and thehard times that you can experience as a COA.
Tod is determined to use his role as Trustee to spread awareness of the affects of parental drinking, to support the work that Nacoa does and empower others affected with his key message, which is always – “It does not have to define you”.
