50 walkers conquered the Nine Edges Challenge for the Big Nacoa Walk 2025 on 3 May, raising £16k to help children affected by their parent’s drinking.
The intrepid explorers hiked 22 miles up and down hills in the stunning Peak District.
The Nine Edges Challenge walk is a dramatic route along the crest of the gritstone escarpments that trace the eastern edge of the Peak District.

The teams set off bright and early from Derwent Reservoir (where the Dambusters practiced), scaling Derwent Edge, Stanage Edge, Burbage Edge (Upper and Lower), Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge, Baslow Edge, Blackstone Edge and lastly Birchin Edge near Chatsworth Park just before dinner time.
Each group was supported by guides Mark and colleagues from Team Walking.
Along the way, walkers were provided refreshments and encouragement by our fab volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who took part. I was a truly amazing day and a wonderful way to celebrate Nacoa’s 35-year anniversary. With friends old and new, now in its 4th year, the Big Nacoa Walk has grown into something so special.
Thank you for every step walked, every pound raised, and every post on socials. We’re so grateful for all your support.
“A really well organised walk with breathtaking views.”

“We were supported from before the walk with information and briefings, during and after. We couldn’t ask for more.”
“It’s like a big welcoming family with Nacoa, everyone is so kind and we really appreciated the support of the volunteers at the coffee stops!”
