Community, joy and connection
Following an unforgettable day bringing people together in support of recovery and raising funds for Nacoa, Wayde shared these heartfelt reflections.
His words are a powerful reminder of the hope, connection, and sense of belonging that can be found beyond addiction and for children of alcoholics, and of the incredible people who made the event possible.
Words from Wayde
After a great event last year (Nacoa25) Football Match I decided to do it all over again bigger and better at Macclesfield Football Club stadium on 12th of July for Nacoa26.
I wanted to take a moment to look back on the incredible charity match we put on in 2025, to mark the second year running where we have hosted this event!
We were lucky enough to have Macclesfield Football Club as our venue this time around, and honestly, I’m still struggling to find the right words to describe how powerful the day was.
We brought together a group of recovering alcoholics to hit the pitch, and seeing what being a part of this meant to them was unforgettable.
For guys who have fought some of the darkest battles, having this focus, this camaraderie, and this sense of belonging is massive. It’s a reminder that there is a beautiful life, full of community and joy, on the other side of addiction.

Why this support matters
This day meant the absolute world to me personally. Having had my own battles and issues with alcohol, being able to stand there alongside my fiancée and our children to watch everyone come together was incredibly emotional and deeply rewarding.
Seeing my family smile, and seeing the lads lift each other up, made me realize just how far we’ve all come. It was a beautiful reminder of why we keep fighting and why supporting one another matters so much.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event
An event like this doesn’t happen without an amazing network of support, and there are a few massive thank yous that need to be said.
Thank you to Nacoa, the work you do for children affected by parental alcohol problems is life changing. We are so proud to raise awareness and funds for your vital cause for a second year.
A massive shoutout to our sponsor, No Mess No Stress: You guys do absolutely endless work for our local community, and your backing made this entire event possible. We can’t thank you enough for always stepping up.
Big thanks to Carrie, she’s been a huge part of the last two years, and I couldn’t have done it without her.
And thank you to our photographer, Sophie (@sssophsnaps). Your amazing work captured the spirit, the smiles, and the emotion of the entire day perfectly. These photos are memories we will cherish forever.
To every single person who played, turned up to cheer us on, donated, or sent a kind message thank you.
We showed once again that when we come together, we can overcome anything.

I’m really glad I could support Wayde and Nacoa again. It’s been a long relationship since 2016, and I’m pleased to still be helping out where I can.
