From 22nd May, BBC Radio 4 is running a week-long series of features focusing on children affected by a parent’s drinking.
The programme’s reporter, Jo Morris, said, “We asked you to get in touch if you had been affected by this subject, and many of you did. Over the series we will be hearing about some of your experiences. We start with Lynne who grew up in Yorkshire with an alcoholic mother who died twelve years ago from complications caused by her drinking.”
Nacoa’s founder and Chief Executive, Hilary Henriques MBE, will be the subject of a feature on Thursday 25th May. Hilary has said of the series that “the focus that BBC’s Woman’s Hour has recently placed on the 2.6 million children who live in a household where a parent drinks too much is revolutionary. In my 27 years working on this issue, I have never seen this level of support and understanding in the national conversation.”
For anybody affected by the subjects raised during the series, Nacoa is here to help you talk things through. No matter how old you are or what your relation is to the issue, we are here to help.
