Amy Winehouse gig sell out success
Nacoa Ambassador Ceri Walker recently helped raise £2,000 by staging a sell-out concert in Brighton, featuring late singer Amy Winehouse’s original band.
The 300 guests at Patterns on Brighton seafront were treated to a fabulous evening of live music from The Amy Winehouse Band, with incredible vocals from Bronte Shande.
There were also fabulous performances from singers Izzy Withers and Tabi, talks from Gemma Ogston, Martin Pratt and Holly Wadsworth-Hill, all compered by actor and comedian Kevin Bishop and TV and Radio Presenter Guy Lloyd.

Off the back of the event, Ceri has been spreading the word for COAs across the local media with features on BBC Sussex and Brighton and Hove newspaper, The Argus.

“My mum had got into a difficult relationship where there was domestic violence and she used alcohol to cope. She would drink big bottles of cider throughout the day and I’d find them hidden under her mattress or in the laundry basket.
It was very unpredictable. I did not know what I was going home to each day, I didn’t know if dinner would be on the table or not. I often had to go and live with my grandparents.
What it did for me is as I became an adult, I have still got some of those coping strategies. Feeling like everything was my fault, trying to people please, trying to keep the peace.
Everything I do is in memory of her. I hope the work I do will help children of alcoholics.”
Ceri was the second ever ambassador for Nacoa and remains a tireless and inventive campaigner. Thank you Ceri for your dedication to helping children know they’re not alone.
