Nacoa UK Wins ‘Helpline of the Year’
We’re absolutely thrilled to share that Nacoa has been named ‘Helpline of the Year 2025’ by the Helplines Partnership.
This national award celebrates excellence in helpline support — recognising the ‘dedication and impact’ of services that make a daily difference in people’s lives.
For over 35 years, Nacoa’s free, confidential helpline has been a safe space for anyone affected by a parent’s drinking. Every day, our trained helpline counsellors offer information, advice and support, and crucially a listening ear to those who are suffering in silence.
The Helplines Partnership
The Helplines Partnership is the membership body for helplines across the UK and beyond. Supporting best practice, training and innovation in the sector.
Nacoa has been a proud member of the Helplines Partnership for over twenty years, working alongside other organisations dedicated to providing safe, accessible and compassionate listening services.
The Helpline of the Year Award recognises outstanding commitment to quality, accessibility and impact — celebrating helplines that demonstrate excellence in supporting people when they need it most.

How the helpline team responded!
Jamie, Helpline Supervisor, shared:
“We take great pride in being present for every caller, no matter the chaos they’re experiencing. Winning Helpline of the Year recognises that commitment — and reminds callers we’re here, ready to listen and understand.”
Smaranda, Service and Safeguarding Lead:
“We’re so honoured to have won. For over 35 years, our Helpline has provided a safe space for anyone affected by a parent’s drinking — and this award reminds us why we do what we do. To all our callers: you are not alone 💙”
Hilary Henriques MBE, Nacoa CEO, said:
‘We’ve won several awards in our time. But this one really means the world.
Because Nacoa is at its heart a Helpline Service. Besides everything else we do in schools outreach, the media and beyond.
As a service for people affected by parental addiction, being a remote helpline is a priority, not a compromise.
Because helplines give all the power to the caller. People of all ages can call us without any time limits or conditions. Wherever you are, whoever you are…
We reach the breadth of the UK and give people that vital intervention to help them know they aren’t alone.’
If you or someone you know needs to talk, our Helpline is here — free and confidential.
