Pokerface film released to support teenagers affected by their parent’s drinking
Nacoa UK brings you a breathtaking short film by young star film-maker Alexander Kühn. This is the story of a teenager caught between minding his dad’s alcohol problem and performing to the rest of the world that everything is fine.
Ben’s hope triumphs over experience and expectation. After a familiar scene finding his dad drunk and passed out on the floor, he clears up the mess. Met by partying friends on their way to a night out, he faces calls to ‘drink, drink, drink’.
His past, present, and future meet in a single moment. Through his barely perceptible ‘pokerface’, we see Ben surrounded by people facing choices about his life alone.
‘Pokerface’ is an original production of Alexander Kühn and funded by Radical Media Group. All work was generously donated free of charge so that no one teenager should feel on their own.
‘You can see it in his eyes’
Living a second-hand life bouncing off other people’s problems. This film is the most profound depiction of these struggles – you can see it in his eyes, if you just dare to look.
