Addiction Awareness Week 2023

Addiction Awareness Week | Taking Action on Addiction

The theme this year is, ‘Addiction Affects Everyone BUT Recovery Is Possible.’

Nacoa is a proud key partner of Addiction Awareness Week | Taking Action on Addiction. Addiction Awareness Week 2024 is 30th November – 7th December.

With the The Forward Trust and other key charities, we are joining together to take action on addiction.

We believe that perceptions of addiction need to change. So we need to build compassion and understanding around addiction. We then need to support people to ask for help without judgement.

Anyone can be affected by addiction and everyone deserves the help they need to overcome it. Everybody knows somebody affected by a parent’s drinking, and we all can do something to help children recover from the impacts.

At Nacoa, we know that children and family members should never be forgotten. Especially when recovery for their parent has not been possible.

Get involved with an amazing schedule of events – go to Taking on Addiction.

Nacoa will share a unique story every day during the campaign. New articles by Nacoa volunteer authors will explore key themes:

Josh – Me and my dad

Steph – My Mum’s battle with alcoholism

Tammy – Growing up with the unhidden secret of alcoholism

Francesca – The forgotten impact of parental alcoholism

Harriet Strange – People ask me why I don’t drink

Addiction must be treated as a serious mental health condition.
