Lunchtime Live with Geraldine James | Addiction Awareness Week

In our series of #LunchtimeLives, we meet with people who have changed the lives of children of alcohol-dependent parents through their advocacy and heroism. And in this special Addiction Awareness Week 2022 episode, we will welcome Geraldine James.

Join us on the @NacoaUK Instagram 12pm Monday 31 October to watch live and join in with the Q&A.

Geraldine James is a firm favourite on stage and screen around the world. She is a long standing patron of Nacoa UK and speaks powerfully about growing up with an alcohol-dependent mother.

This will be an emotional and inspiring interview, inspired by Taking Action on Addiction. Look forward to seeing you there!

To support Nacoa and the Addiction Awareness Week campaign, you can become a member for as little as £3 a month.

I support Nacoa because it’s important to let children know they can do more than just survive their parent’s alcoholism. They can make successful lives for themselves.’

Geraldine James OBE

How do I join an ‘Instagram Live?’

Good question. It is actually quite easy so long as you have an Instagram account and you follow Nacoa UK. For detailed instructions, tap here.

Taking Action on Addiction

Taking Action on Addiction is our shared campaign to improve understanding of addiction and end the stigma that surrounds it. We are then calling for addiction to be treated as a serious mental health condition and for increased access to support.

We need to change perceptions of addiction. That means us building compassion and understanding around addiction and support people to ask for help without judgement, discrimination or stigma. Because anyone can be affected by addiction and everyone deserves the help they need to overcome it. To achieve this, therefore, Taking Action on Addiction is a partnership of charities who believe in working together. Together, we will bring about the change so badly needed to help more people and families find recovery.
