Big Nacoa Walk is back! 3rd May 2025
The Big Nacoa Walk is back for 2025! Be the first to attempt the ‘Seven Edges Challenge’, a brand new walk for this year.
A beautiful 22.5 mile trek through the Manifold Valley and Dovedale in the Derbyshire Peak District. All in aid of children affected by a parent’s drinking.
We will traverse seven stunning edges: Derwent Edge, Stanage Edge, Burbage Edge (Upper), Burbage Edge (Lower), Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge, Baslow Edge, Blackstone Edge and Birchin Edge.
Other notable highlights include the Derwent Reservoir (where the Dambusters practiced), Lost Lad rocks, Robin Hood’s Cave on Stanage Edge, Wellington’s Monument, Nelson’s Monument and Chatsworth Park.
It means the world to Nacoa to get this event back on the road after its momentous return in 2023. It is special, more than just a wonderful team fundraising event.
50 places are available for this year’s one day walk on the 3rd May 2025. Sign up quickly to catch the last few spaces.
The walk was stunning and the atmosphere was amazing and supportive. I’ve never been so moved by a fundraising event in my whole life!

The Big Nacoa Walk
This year, the Big Nacoa Walk route is being planned by friends at Team Walking, who will provide their expert guided experience on the day.
22.5 mile (36 km) walk with 1000 metres of ascent and descent. It is a strenuous and demanding walk that will take around 10 – 12 hours to complete.
Most of the route follows clear tracks and paths across the top of the eastern Gritstone Edges, with boggy ground in places, as well as woodland, moorland and rough pastureland. There are a number of roads to cross (some of which are busy) and lanes to walk along.
Other notable highlights are: Derwent Reservoir (where the Dambusters practiced); Lost Lad rocks, Robin Hood’s Cave on Stanage Edge, Wellington’s Monument, Nelson’s Monument and Chatsworth Park.
7:30am: Start time at Fairholmes.
8am – 7pm: Fully guided walk around the Seven Edges Challenge

Accommodation
Booking accommodation is easy. Much of the walking party will stay at the beautiful Castleton Losehill Hall between 2nd to 4th of May. However, there is plenty of accommodation to choose from in the area, including lovely AirBnB or Holiday Cottages options.
You might also prefer to make your own way there and back on the day. Whatever works for you!
