Catch up: Together Live | Arabella Byrne and Julia Hamilton
Event went out live 12:30pm, 16th November | @NacoaUK Facebook Live
To celebrate Alcohol Awareness Week, Nacoa is hosting a special live event with Arabella Byrne and Julia Hamilton.
Julia Hamilton, a novelist, is the mother of Arabella Bryne, a journalist and writer. They share a tangled family story of alcohol-dependence and recovery.
In a recent article in the Daily Mail, Arabella describes growing up in ‘the shadow of alcoholism’. Later, Arabella developed her own problems with alcohol.
‘I would spend the next 12 years trying to sate it before I gave in. I grew up watching my mother drink to excess. Beautiful, talented and troubled, she was rarely without a drink in her hand.’
Twelve years ago, Arabella and Julia went into recovery within nine months of each other. They now are speaking out about their shared paths to better lives in sobriety.
In this special studio livestream, they will discuss how their family system was broken and repaired.
