Caroline Flint is the first Mastermind contestant for Nacoa UK

Caroline Flint, the renowned political commentator and former politician, won Celebrity Mastermind, playing in aid of children of alcoholics.

Her chosen subject was film Alien by Ridley Scott. Scoring a strong 9 points in the specialist round, she then followed with a further 8 points in the general knowledge. Drawing on points with Steve Backshall, Caroline pipped her opponent on her superior pass rate.

TV exposure is so important for children affected by their parent’s drinking. Finding out Nacoa in an incidental way while watching a mainstream programme can change the life of someone feeling like they are the only one managing these issues in their lives.

Caroline has been a friend and supporter of Nacoa since the creation of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Children of Alcoholics. She has shared her story of having to move into lodgings as a young woman when her mother’s drinking got too much.

Flint credits her experience in the education system with helping her cope as a young woman and go on to flourish in her career.
